Father Peter Williams, an American exorcist living in Mexico, becomes possessed by a demon he was trying to expel. Under this possession, he commits a "terrible sacrilege". Eighteen years later, the same demon returns, possessing a young woman named Esperanza and forcing Peter to choose between saving his soul or those he loves.
