In the center of the hut sat a clay pot containing a bitter, mud-like brew of Banisteriopsis caapi and Psychotria viridis . When it was her turn, Elena stepped forward. The liquid was thick and metallic on her tongue. "Trust the medicine," the shaman whispered.
The smoke of mapacho tobacco drifted through the thatched maloca , heavy and sweet.
