The 2017 live-action Fullmetal Alchemist film, directed by Fumihiko Sori and starring Ryosuke Yamada, condenses early chapters of the manga following the Elric brothers' search for the Philosopher’s Stone. Although featuring notable visual effects and filming locations in Italy, the movie received mixed reviews for its fast-paced plot compared to the original series. The film is followed by two 2022 sequels, The Revenge of Scar and The Final Alchemy .
