To get the ghost to "write-up" its evidence, you must follow specific placement and interaction rules:

Place the book in the Ghost Room or high-activity areas. If the ghost roams away from the book during its interaction window (every 45–90 seconds), it won't write.

You must use the secondary action key (default 'F' on PC) to place the book open on a surface. Tossing it with 'G' (drop) leaves it closed, and the ghost cannot write in a closed book. Fazmofobi

If a ghost throws the book while it is open but empty, it typically means Ghost Writing is not an evidence for that ghost (except on Nightmare/Insanity difficulty where evidence might be hidden). 🪜 Equipment Tiers

After the ghost writes in the book, take a photo of it for extra rewards in your journal. To get the ghost to "write-up" its evidence,

Ghosts have a limited number of things they can interact with. Removing "filler" items like shoes, plates, or cups from the room increases the RNG chance they will pick the book for their next interaction.

If you witness a ghost event, try placing the book directly at the ghost's feet; they are highly likely to interact with nearby items immediately after an event. Tossing it with 'G' (drop) leaves it closed,

Place a Video Camera facing the book. This allows you to check for writing from the safety of the van.
