Lake Russell , also known as Richard B. Russell Lake , is a 26,650-acre reservoir on the Savannah River bordering Georgia and South Carolina. It is highly regarded for its "mature" or well-established fishery, primarily due to the abundance of submerged standing timber and an undeveloped shoreline that offers a remote experience. The lake is managed as a "put-and-take" and "mixed-bag" fishery, meaning many species are stocked and have reached trophy sizes in its stable environment. Richard B. Russell Dam and Lake - USACE Savannah District
