Les Claypool performs in character as Aloysius Devadander Abercrombie (or "Mud"), a rural loner calmly burying a body after killing a man with an aluminum baseball bat over a trivial argument. Claypool often spits chewing tobacco directly at the camera to emphasize the character's lack of refinement.
Outdoor scenes were shot in the Palo Alto area near Interstate 280, while the mud bath scenes were filmed in Calistoga, California .
The first day of filming was nearly derailed by a massive rainstorm and freezing temperatures. The crew also accidentally put diesel fuel into a gasoline generator, causing the power to fail repeatedly.
During their performance of this song at the rainy Woodstock '94 festival, the crowd pelted the band with mud. Claypool famously told the audience that throwing things was a "sign of small and insignificant genitalia" to get them to stop.
