As the passengers retreated to the shade of the bus, the Doctor and Christina climbed a nearby dune. Below them lay the ruins of a massive city, half-buried and gleaming. It wasn't built of stone, but of bone and metal. "What happened here?" Christina asked. Behind them, the first of the stingrays slammed

The swarm was miles away, then hundreds of yards. The sky turned gold and screamed with the sound of grinding metal. "Everyone, hold on to something!" the Doctor yelled.

A shimmering ripple appeared in the sky—a tear in reality. It was the wormhole they had fallen through, but it was shrinking. On the horizon, a massive storm cloud of gold dust was approaching. It wasn't sand. It was a swarm of metallic, stingray-like creatures: the Tritovores' nightmare, the Stingrays of the Swarm.

He looked at her, the golden London sun setting behind him. "Not today," he said, though his hand trembled slightly. "But soon."
