The story begins with Gabby finding her older brother’s original 1989 Game Boy buried at the bottom of a cardboard box in the attic. Unlike the sleek, high-definition screens she’s used to, this "brick" is heavy, grey, and smells faintly of old plastic and static. After scavenging four AA batteries from various remote controls around the house, she flips the switch. The iconic ping rings out, and a pixelated world flickers to life.
