The air in the cave did not breathe. It was still, heavy with the scent of ancient earth and the hum of power that had existed before the first king of Camelot drew breath. Merlin stood amidst the jagged glass, his own reflection shattered a thousand times over in the facets of the crystals.

But destiny is a cruel weaver. Back in the stone halls of Camelot, every move Merlin made to save the King only drew the noose tighter. A warning to Gaius was met with skepticism; an attempt to intervene led to a fall that nearly claimed Morgana’s life. As the episode ends, the vision is fulfilled, yet the cost is higher than he imagined. Morgana lives, her secret parentage revealed to her in the shadows, her hatred for Uther now fueled by the very blood they share. The air in the cave did not breathe
