The story begins in the 1970s on a central Anatolian farm ruled by the stern patriarch, Bekir. Bekir’s authoritarian nature, often captured through his own video camera which he uses "like a weapon," leaves deep scars on his wife, Havva, and their children: Kadir, Saliha, and Yusuf.
