Suddenly, Last Summer -

The film is widely praised (and occasionally criticized) for its powerhouse, over-the-top acting.

The story follows a young socialite, Catherine Holly (Elizabeth Taylor), who is institutionalized after witnessing the gruesome death of her cousin Sebastian in Spain. Her wealthy, manipulative aunt, Violet Venable (Katharine Hepburn), attempts to bribe a neurosurgeon (Montgomery Clift) to perform a lobotomy on Catherine to silence her account of what happened. Suddenly, Last Summer

Mental illness, repressed homosexuality, trauma, family neurosis, and the "cannibalistic" nature of human relationships. The film is widely praised (and occasionally criticized)
