In the third and final installment of the film series, , the story shifts from the high-fantasy epic of the previous films to a more grounded (and often criticized) family comedy. Plot Summary
The story follows a 13-year-old , who is struggling to adjust to a new life after his father remarries. Bastian now has a hostile stepsister named Nicole and is being targeted at his new high school by a gang of bullies known as "The Nasties," led by Slip (played by a young Jack Black ).
: The Nasties find the book and realize they can rewrite the story in real-time. They begin wishing for chaos, which causes fireballs and storms to devastate Fantasia.
: The Childlike Empress tasks Bastian with returning to the human world to retrieve the book and stop the bullies. During the transition, several Fantasian creatures—including Falkor the Luck Dragon , a Bark Troll , and a Baby Rockbiter —accidentally travel with him and get lost in the real world.
: Bastian and Nicole eventually team up, recover the AURYN from the bullies at a local mall, and use its power to restore Fantasia and fix their family dynamic.
